Quickly return to love when guilt seeks entrance into your thoughts. Through daily loving-kindness meditation, your mind is renewed, guilt comes to an end, and new instincts of peace, grace, and love emerge naturally and effortlessly from within.

Turning “lemon into lemonade” is the second lesson we learn about ending guilt. What I mean is: Make your mistakes into a story of redemption, not guilt. Failure is inevitable. We all make mistakes, and sometimes the mistakes are grave.

Ironic, Isn’t It?

Guilt cannot coexist with unconditional love. In my situation, guilt pushed me further away from awareness of the eternal love-union that is the ultimate truth. I was spiritually a failure and for days and sometimes weeks, I would slip further and further into a spiral of self-hatred, manifesting as unhappiness and even depression.

To give you a personal example about the ego, religion, and sin, I go back into my early 20s—a period in my life that seems almost absurd today. Yet it was my reality back then, and sadly enough the reality of many sincere seekers of God. I was deeply committed to the religious system I was part of at the time.
