Are You What You Believe?
Continued from yesterday…
I was first introduced to these unconscious biases while studying ancient concepts.
Many texts distinguished between a person’s mind, soul, body, and heart. The mind was spoken about in reference to the thoughts that we are aware of; while the heart represented the non-conscious mind.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he, Solomon wrote as one of his proverbs. A person’s sense of self was not based on their conscious thoughts, but the deeper feelings that are hidden.
You are what you believe, but your real beliefs are not the conscious ideas and wishes of who you want to be. Instead, beliefs are deep-rooted hidden thought-patterns that you are not even aware of yourself.
