Where Is The Universe?

by Oct 16, 2021Theme: What Is Love?

Continued from yesterday…

Universal oneness is a challenge for our dual minds to comprehend. Since childhood, we have been taught that there’s a dividing line between me and what’s out there. If, for example, we were to ask “Where is the universe?” instinctively we would perceive the universe as outside of us.

This seems reasonable to the mind, but is it accurate? Of course not. Our essence does not exist as a separate entity from the universe, for we are a part of the whole. We are one with the universe, because the universe is one.

Our oneness is not just a logical assumption and a spiritual concept. Physicist Fritjof Capra says that quantum physics “reveals a basic oneness of the universe. It shows that we cannot decompose the world into independently existing smaller units. As we penetrate into matter, nature does not show us any isolated basic building blocks (like we once thought) but rather appears as a complicated web of relations between the various parts of the whole.”

The challenge for us is that we don’t recognize that oneness because our ego-mind is limited in its perception, and makes a distinction between self and non-self.

Herein lies a clue to how we become conscious of love. What I mean is that we are aware of love when we move beyond the limitations of the ego-mind and awaken within to our oneness with what’s outside our form. We identify with “otherness” as being us through forgiveness, compassion, non-judgment, kindness, and empathy, and thus become aware of the transcending presence of love.
