After Jesus’ death and subsequent resurrection, a new view emerged among the followers of Jesus that he, in fact, was the Messiah, or the Christ. The kingdom of the Christ was not external, but residing in the hearts of humanity. The foundation of that kingdom was the egoless love that Jesus manifested.
When Jesus was at his lowest point on the cross, he offered forgiveness and understanding to the ones who had betrayed him and made false accusations against him. Suffering the humiliation and excruciating pain of crucifixion, Jesus prayed, Forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. Jesus acknowledged that they were unconscious of the true self, and acted contrary to what was deeply imbedded in them.

He hung out with sinners, such as tax collectors, prostitutes, people of opposing religions, and even the soldiers of the occupying military force. Whoever came to Jesus was accepted and loved without restraint or condition.
When the Messiah would come, the Midrash Torah prophesied that there would be no more war, conflict, or hunger on earth, but everyone would be occupied with knowing or being aware of God.
