Does Quantum Physics Confirm Jesus’ Teachings?

By the time Jesus came on the scene, this view of the spirit was not only commonly accepted, but it was downright foundational for many religions. Some Greek philosophers, such as Epimenides, spoke of all people having our being in God. David, the psalmist, made the same assertion by suggesting that he could not run away from God, because even when he made his bed in hell, God was still there.

Jesus then added a new dimension to this perception of the divine. God was indeed the spirit (consciousness) that permeated the universe. But this unseen God was not an impersonal consciousness to be afraid of, but instead was the father of us all. By presenting God as father, Jesus made God more relatable to the human mind.

Jesus then demonstrates that this relationship with the father was one of love. Later, as his followers reflected upon what they observed in Jesus, they concluded that God is spirit (consciousness) and love (energy). Their conclusion seems to match what quantum physics hints at and what many of us intuitively feel: Love is the fundamental energy of the universe – the essence of the spiritual presence in all things.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a French philosopher and Jesuit priest who passed away in 1955, tied this spiritual presence or mystery to the beginning of the universe. He proposed that love is the energy at the heart of the Big Bang, deeply embedded in the universe as the cosmological force. In other words, love is the integrated energy field, the substance of the infinite observer – formless consciousness – that is the source of life.

Without love as the ether of the universe, our place in it is void of meaning. But with love as the principal energy force of life, the purpose of our existence is to awaken to that dimension within us that is love.
