Bringing the Sacred Presence Into Every Day Life
One way to practice bringing your true self into all of your endeavors is to pause throughout the day for 30-60 seconds and become completely still and aware of the divine presence in everything.
Sometimes this involves closing your eyes and focusing inwardly, which helps you become aware of the presence of love in you. Other times, it could mean stepping outside your office or home in complete silence to notice without judgment the intrinsic spirit of a flower, a tree, a bird, or another human being.
Before I speak at any event, connect with someone on the phone, or sit down to write, I often become entirely still. Even if it’s only for 10 seconds, my thoughts yield to an awareness of the divine presence in all things—the people and the projects that are present in the moment.
Out of that awareness flows calm and confident wisdom for what I’m engaged in. And when things are not working out the way I hoped, and emotions seek to distract me, I’m able to return to that place of awareness within me and find comfort, peace, and happiness.
